Susan Alasandro
Susan is an accomplished musician with diverse experience in both teaching and performing. In addition to being a classically trained pianist, she has also studied jazz, blues, pop and rock genres. She enjoyed being a member of the Musicians Guild and performing at Goucher College in Maryland. In college she studied music theory, technic and piano performance. She is a copywrited composer, and has had formal training in guitar and voice.
As a preschool music director she enjoyed teaching over 100 children and organizing performances. She has been teaching private lessons in the Apex/Holly Springs area for over 12 years. Her students perform yearly at the Cultural Center in Holly Springs. In 2005 she opened the Music Academy of Holly Springs, which offered lessons to all ages and disciplines. She expanded her teaching experience to include music classes for elementary and upper level students. She has taught at several area schools and at the Cultural Center in Holly Springs. Susan continues to enjoy teaching private piano lessons in her home studio.
Susan is excited about offering a variety of music courses that will expand music appreciation for Charter School students. Courses offered are as follows:
-Private piano lessons-ages 6 and up-offered during school hours or after school.
-Keyboard lessons for beginners-ages 6 and up-offered during school hours or after
school.
-Music appreciation classes-ages 4 and up-offered during school hours or after school.
This class includes activities appropriate for the age group. It usually includes listening
activities, singing, introduction to new instruments, and movement to music.
* All these programs will be offered during the summer and can be incorporated into the
Summer program.
Keyboard rentals are available to beginning keyboard students for practice at home.
