Charter Leaders,
As I write this Arne Duncan is addressing the National Press Club and apparently too many web watchers because the site has crashed. He is to announce the Round II finalists for the Race to the Top. Time out, just in:
“Eighteen states and the District of Columbia have been named finalists in the second round of the federal “Race to the Top” school reform grant competition, giving them a chance to win a share of $3 billion. Department officials provided The Associated Press with a list of the finalists ahead of a speech by Education Secretary Arne Duncan. The states are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.”
Round 2 winners will be announced in late August or early September.
Our 2010 conference was a blast and according to you..a success! Our evaluations (scale 1 to 5 highest) reflected averages between 4 and 5 in every category. Next year will be bigger and better. Thanks again to Tom Humble, East Wake Singers, Dr. Atkinson, Tom Williams and the “Red Brigade” from Acadia, Samantha, Shannon, Carter Community & East Wake (for the huge turnout), the Presenters, sponsors, and many more.
