I had the honor of participating in the installation of Dr. Timothy Laniak as the new Dean of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte last week. Tim and wife Maureen were the drivers behind the creation of Union Academy in Union Academy and a school I was fortunate to be a part of.
We are officially in our new office at 512 St. Mary’s St., Ste. 110, Raleigh, NC 27603. We will plan an Open House for our members soon!
Chatham Charter
This Friday, Feb. 19th is the date of our third Regional Roundtable meeting. We will see you, Baker Mitchell, and his fine folks at Charter Day School, 7055 Bacon’s Way, Leland, NC 28451 (910.655.1215). We will begin at noon and end at 2 pm. The following Friday, the 26th, we meet at Monroe’s Union Academy from 10 am until noon.
I have recently asked SCORE to help out our members when you seek business advice and guidance that may be lacking. Or, perhaps your school just needs an objective review. SCORE is an organization of business people who volunteer to help small enterprises succeed and is free! The Charlotte office number is 704-344-6576 or see the website and find your closest office.

A resource you already know about is the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools. Its President, Nelson Smith, is stepping down soon after six productive years, excepting perhaps here in this Old North State. We will do better in the next six Nelson!
