We are the North Carolina Alliance for Public Charter Schools in Raleigh, NC. Our organization has been in operation less than a year and we have produced a very successful statewide charter schools conference and galvanized the charter community into a strong voice for expansion of quality charters in our state.
We are on the precipice of an explosion of charter schools in this state, a state long burdened by an arbitrary statutory cap of 100 schools. With legislative member retirements and our citizens reaching a tipping point in demanding better K-12 education outcomes, the capricious cap will probably be removed in 2011 and families will enjoy the choice and competition that is embedded in every other part of American society.
